The Bible Speaks Today – Light and Darkness!

Light and Darkness

(1 John 1:5-10)

light-darkThis is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin. If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word is not in us. The Bible Speaks Today – Torchbearers for Christ

let-your-light-shineLet your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven” (Matthew 5:16)

In the year 2012 we recently witnessed a global sports event that takes place every four years – The Olympic Games! The Olympic flame is a symbol of the Olympic Games. Its origins lie in ancient Greece, where a fire was kept burning throughout the celebration of the ancient Olympics. These torchbearers are usually famous people or celebrities whom the country is proud to show off. In this 2012 olympics, Amitabh Bachchan was the first Indian film celebrity to be one of the Olympic Torchbearers. Torchbearers are people that others would want to emulate, they are role models. It is a great honour to be chosen to carry the Olympic Torch. Continue reading

The Bible Speaks Today – God Promises To Guide Us

Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” (Psalm 119:105)

It is a lamp “for the feet,” not throwing its beams far and wide, but shining its light only on the little bit of road ahead on which the Christian’s feet are walking.  The law of divine guidance is, “Step by step”. One who holds up a lantern on a dark village-road at night, sees only one step before him. If he takes that step, the lantern also moves forward, making the next step plain. In this way, finally he reaches his destination in safety, without once stepping into darkness. The whole way was shown to him, but only one single step at a time. This illustrates the usual method of God’s guidance. Continue reading
